Lovely super clean bnb in historic friendly tiny Abercwmhir village with beautiful old church and a short walking distance to the quirky pub (drinks only) and with very helpful hosts - and as we were walking the Glyndwr Way they were kind enough to do evening meal (not normally provided) and also super pack lunches - recommended!

Lovely house in a lovely area. King room is huge with attached bathroom. Off street/secure parking for bikes. The abbey ruins are nearby and a nice little history lesson. Pub is very unusual, 8pm to 11pm(ish), Tuesday to Saturday. No grub. (It's run by your hostess' brother) WOULD SAY 5 STARS but the lack of any eateries nearby or other options means you would need to plan accordingly. A bit of a pain if you have kids who will be unpredictable. You need to take shoes off before traipsing around the house, Not an unreasonable request considering it's a family home and is immaculate. If you're the rambling type then you would be spoilt for choice. If street gazing is your thing than the nights are amazing, you can't see the generic constellations for all the others (could only see the big dipper, also saw a satellite going across the sky at some pace). If you're taking kids you would need to plan what yourd going to do with them. I did not see a playground etc and I doubt you would make your ready to Wales to go on playground equipment available everywhere. They're are two pooch's which are quite friendly. I don't know if you can bring pets but once again you would have some lovely walks. Would I go back? definitely. Definitely worth a stay. Oh, did I mention the fantastic view out the twin bedroom window. Also saw two Kites from the dining room in a nearby tree. We stayed at Laurelbank again in August 2021. Meryl is a great host and the rooms are large and the showers piping hot. She provides very good evening meals and breakfasts. This is a great B&B and we highly recommend it.

Meryl is an absolutely lovely host. She came out in her car to pick up my injured friend when we were walking Glyndwr's Way and then gave us a lovely home cooked dinner with enormous puddings. Would highly recommend other walkers also stop here.

Fantastic picturesque location, view onto Welsh hills and valley, super clean B&B, warm and pleasant atmosphere, luxurious size rooms and bathroom/toilet but most of all an amazing super cool hostess!

Nice dinner especially the apple and blackberry crumble, good satisfying breakfasts and great packed lunches. Room warm and comfy, but not the ensuite double we booked, we had a twin with bathroom down the corridor so for that I marked as a 4.

I stayed at Laurel Bank for 3 nights May Bank Holiday was very pleased with the accommodation. Meryl made me feel very welcome and the cooked breakfasts set me up for the day and her cheese sandwiches were delicious. Very peaceful and quiet stay felt very relaxed and very close to the venue for the course I was attending. Very much deserved 5 star rating! Really enjoyed my stay!
